Sacred Threads is an Art exhibition created to speak to the eternal and intricate bonds of the African diaspora a tapestry woven from the shared rhythms of life, death, and birth. Featuring artists from the Caribbean, Americas, West Africa, Central America, South America, and Northern Africa, the collection celebrates the enduring through lines that connect these communities despite their geographic separation. These threads are memory in motion, a continuum of culture.
Through showcasing artists from six regions, this exhibition becomes a space for artistic expression and a cultural exchange platform for connection.
This is the 9th Exhibition of The Future Is Black in partnership with A.Loved.1, who co-curated this exhibit.

Seeking BIPOC Artists to Illuminate Our Food Future
​
The Pittsburgh Food Policy Council invites BIPOC artists from the Pittsburgh area to contribute their creative vision to our upcoming Food System Summit. Your art will help us explore the critical intersections of food justice, sustainability, and community resilience.

The Opportunity
Selected artists will:

Have their work prominently displayed at Carnegie Mellon University during the summit

Receive a $150 stipend for their contribution

Connect with food justice advocates, policymakers, and community leaders

Be credited in summit materials and communications

Help shape the narrative around food systems in our region

The Vision
Our summit theme, "Sowing Tomorrow, Together: Resilience, Sustainability, Community, and Justice," celebrates our region's potential to address critical food system challenges. From climate change to social inequality, the future of our food systems requires both practical solutions and profound cultural shifts.

Your artwork will serve as visual anchors throughout this important conversation, helping attendees connect emotionally with these complex issues and inspiring new perspectives on our collective food future.
